Overview

The Compact Soft Shell rooftop tent is a three-season side-fold tent built for small families or pairs who like extra room to spread out. The short-style platform gives you a generous sleeping footprint without taking over the whole roof, and the tent packs down into a low, compact bundle when it’s closed. A 60 mm high-density mattress, tall sidewalls, and a full-length telescopic ladder make it a practical setup for weekend trips and longer road journeys.

Made for three-season adventures

This tent is designed for spring, summer, and autumn use. The main canopy uses 420D rip-stop polyester Oxford that is waterproof and UV-resistant, so it handles sustained rain and strong sun without breaking down quickly. The separate rainfly and optional annex use the same diamond rip-stop fabric, giving you a consistent weather barrier around the sleeping area and ladder entrance.

Quick setup on most roof racks

The Compact Soft Shell mounts to standard crossbars or a platform rack and opens in one motion. Once the travel cover is removed, the tent folds out over the side of the vehicle and the 230 cm (about 7 ft 6 in) telescopic laddersupports the outer edge. You get a full-size sleeping area while most of the hardware stays permanently mounted on the roof, so setup and pack-down stay quick and repeatable.

Interior space and comfort

Inside, the tent offers a sleeping footprint of 160 x 240 cm (about 63 in x 94 in, or 5 ft 3 in x 7 ft 10 in), sized for 3 adults or 2 adults plus 2 kids. A 60 mm (2.4 in) high-density foam mattress with a removable cover is included, so you don’t need extra pads unless you want a different firmness. The soft shell design gives upright headroom along the length of the tent, and the side windows plus door can be opened for airflow while the mesh layer keeps insects out.

Built to last

The base uses a welded aluminum tube frame with insulated, anti-scratch aluminum sheet on top, which spreads the load across your crossbars and insulates you from cold air passing under the tent. Anodized aluminum poles keep the canopy supported, while the heavy-duty PVC travel cover (around 680 gsm / 1200D) protects the tent fabric from road grime, UV, and weather when closed. All major connection points use stainless hardware and SBS zippers for long-term reliability.
