Description

The Extended Soft Shell rooftop tent is a long-style side-fold tent designed for families and groups who need maximum sleeping space on the roof. It opens to a large 190 x 240 cm sleeping area while packing into a low, rectangular bundle when closed. A 60 mm high-density mattress, aluminum frame, and full-length telescopic ladder turn your roof rack into a comfortable sleeping platform for 4–5 people, depending on how tightly you pack in.

Three-season long-style design

By your internal classification, this is a three-season soft shell tent, intended for spring, summer, and autumn trips. The rainfly is made from 420D diamond rip-stop polyester Oxford, rated waterproof to 2500 mm and treated for UV 50+ and mold resistance. The main tent body uses 420D rip-stop polyester Oxford as well, with a higher 3000 mm waterproof rating for added protection in sustained rain.

The long-style platform keeps the full 240 cm length along the vehicle, which gives more room for taller sleepers or families, while the folding mechanism keeps setup simple—unclip the cover, fold the base out over the side, extend the ladder, and tension the poles.

Sleeping space and comfort

Inside, the Extended Soft Shell offers a sleeping footprint of 190 x 240 cm:

• 190 cm ≈ 74.8 in (about 75″, roughly 6 ft 3 in)

• 240 cm ≈ 94.5 in (about 7 ft 10 in)

This area is sized for 4–5 sleepers—typically 2 adults with children or 3 adults who want more width than a standard double.

A 60 mm (2.4 in) high-density foam mattress with a removable, washable cover is included and spans the full floor, so you’re not dealing with multiple cushions. Windows and the main door have mesh layers to keep airflow moving while blocking insects.

Construction and access

The tent is built on a welded aluminum tube base with insulation and an anti-scratch aluminum sheet on top. This spreads the load across your crossbars and adds a small barrier against cold air flowing under the tent at night. The internal frame uses aluminum anodized curved poles to support the canopy.

Access is via a 230 cm aluminum anodized telescopic ladder (about 90.5 in, roughly 7 ft 6 in), which adjusts to common vehicle heights and supports the overhanging section. When closed, a heavy-duty PVC travel cover (about 680 gsm, sometimes called 1200D) wraps around the tent, rated waterproof to around 10,000 mm with UV 50+ protection, shielding the fabric and mattress from weather and road grime.
